Two quick notes for this week:
The truth regarding the JC/BC split? A recent Rolling Stone feature on Billy Corgan shed some more information on the Smashing Pumpkins’ bandleader’s mindset, but mostly created lots of concern among the Pumpkins’ fan community. This community is unique in that it not only consists of die-hard pro-Corgan fans, but also former fans airing their grievances against the last original Pumpkin, as well as fans who are concerned for Corgan’s well-being. One of the most interesting topics from the RS article is the allegation that Corgan fired drummer Jimmy Chamberlin last March, as well as Corgan’s perceptions of Chamberlin’s character. Hipsters United has been covering this sections of this article, often with intense fan comments, depending on the article.
The writer of this Auderamos article is pro-Jimmy on this one.
Looks like AC/DC’s greatest hits? The Iron Man 2 soundtrack looks to be a compilation of some of AC/DC’s greatest hits. The band is notoriously album-oriented (even though the running joke says they keep producing the same album!). They refuse to let iTunes or AmazonMP3 sell their catalog, and they have never released an official greatest hits collection.
The Iron Man 2 soundtrack, to be released April 19th, looks to be the next best thing to a “best of” album:
1. Shoot to Thrill
2. Rock ‘N’ Roll Damnation
3. Guns for Hire
4. Cold Hearted Man
5. Back in Black
6. Thunderstruck
7. If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)
8. Evil Walks
9. T.N.T.
10. Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be
11. Have a Drink on Me
12. The Razor’s Edge
13. Let There Be Rock
14. War Machine
15. Highway to Hell
If AC/DC were to realize that iTunes and AmazonMP3 (and other digital download stores) can sell their albums as “album only” deals, then maybe they can sell their catalog online.
