About an hour ago, Smashing Pumpkins producer Kerry Brown tweeted the streaming release of the new Smashing Pumpkins track, “Widow Wake My Mind”:

Sometime yesterday, according to the SP fan blog Hipsters United, some Italian fans discovered the download link for the song on the Amazon servers.  When the link becomes official, we will post it here.  Until then, you’ll have to do some extra surfing to get to that point, if you’re interested.

My initial reaction to “Widow” is that I’ll give it a chance to grow on me.  If I was suddenly 14 years old again, I probably wouldn’t like the song and all its poppy features.  Since I’ve outlived Kurt Cobain, I’ll give it a few more mp3 spins, then place it on hiatus until the next SP song release.  By the way, it sounds decent when paired with the first song, “A Song for a Son.”  New Pumpkins drummer Mike Byrne sounds a bit better on the new track.
